Uciane Scarlett is an associate and focuses on the creation and operation of companies with innovative therapeutics and platform technology.
Prior to joining Atlas in 2018, Uciane was the director of business development and strategy at Compass Therapeutics, a preclinical stage immunology start-up, where she reported directly into C-suite level co-founders. At Compass, Uciane drove business development activities, participated in strategic finance, and engaged with members of the board. As a member of the extended management team, Uciane was involved in numerous scientific, strategic, and operational activities geared towards corporate and pipeline development.
Prior to joining Compass in 2016, she was a manager at Clarion Healthcare, a strategy life science consultancy, where she frequently worked with small – large biopharmaceutical companies with oncology assets and/or interests. Uciane co-led efforts to grow the oncology practice at Clarion and published two industry-focused articles on an innovative framework for developing novel-novel oncology combinations.
Prior to Clarion, Uciane completed a short postdoc at The Wistar Institute Cancer Center after receiving her Ph.D. in cancer immunology at Dartmouth College in 2011. During her graduate and post-doc years, Uciane worked with Jose Conejo-Garcia, currently co-leader of the Immunology Program and Chair of the Department of Immunology at the Moffitt Cancer Center. Her work focused on a range of cancer immunotherapies involving biologics and small molecules, early diagnostics involving nanoparticles, and cancer immunobiology in the context of myeloid cell pathophysiology. She has been involved in the filing of two patents and authored or co-authored thirteen articles in the field of immunology and oncology.
Outside of the office, Uciane spends most of her time exploring different cultures through cooking and traveling, and enjoys biking as well as trying new outdoor adventures.
